Every exchange and each trading competition will have its own rules. It’s important to check the details of trading competitions carefully and make sure you understand and adhere to the rules.
Common things to watch out for are:
Since winners are usually determined by percentage increase of starting portfolio, most trade competition events are open to anyone regardless of how much money is in their account.
However, most trading competitions have minimum volume needed to get rewards. This will depend on particular event, but typically there’s minimum $5,000 – $50,000 volume required to be eligible for rewards. This is to prevent people from gambling with just a few dollars and maximum leverage, and obtaining highest PnL percent with few low-cost positions.
Keep in mind that each position open and close counts for volume. Trading with $100 with 10x leverage equals $1000 volume when opening a position, and another $1000 volume when closing it.
