Gate, MEXC, and Binance Launch Real Stock Trading With Crypto

The line between cryptocurrency exchanges and traditional brokerages is fading faster than ever. In a major move for the digital asset industry, Gate, MEXC, and Binance have all launched direct stock trading services within days of one another, allowing customers to buy and hold actual U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs using crypto-linked accounts and stablecoins.

These real stocks trading with crypto launches are one of the most significant developments in the ongoing convergence of crypto and traditional finance. While many exchanges spent the past year introducing tokenized stocks, stock perpetual futures, contracts for difference (CFDs), and other synthetic equity products, the latest offerings move much closer to the traditional brokerage model.

Instead of merely tracking stock prices through derivatives or blockchain-based representations, these new services provide access to real underlying shares through regulated brokerage partnerships, giving investors direct exposure to publicly traded companies while maintaining the convenience of crypto-native platforms.

Crypto Exchanges Move Beyond Tokenized Stocks and Derivatives

The crypto industry has experimented with stock-related products for years, but most crypto firms stayed far away from traditional assets. But this year has seen a big push into traditional finance. Several exchanges expanded their TradFi offerings with tokenized stocks available on spot markets, while others launched stock futures and equity-linked derivatives to attract traders seeking exposure beyond cryptocurrencies.

The latest announcements from three major crypto platforms represent a different approach. Rather than creating synthetic exposure, these platforms are increasingly positioning themselves as multi-asset investment hubs where investors can manage cryptocurrencies, stocks, ETFs, and eventually other financial products from a single account.

For crypto holders who already keep capital in stablecoins such as USDT and USDC, the transition into equities becomes significantly simpler.

Gate Launches Access to More Than 10,000 Stocks and ETFs

Gate officially unveiled1 its stock trading service on June 1, enabling customers to trade stocks and ETFs directly using USDT within the exchange. The company claims to offer access to more than 10,000 stock and ETF assets, significantly exceeding the few hundred securities typically available through many tokenized stock platforms.

The offering covers major U.S. trading venues and liquidity networks, including NYSE, Nasdaq, NYSE Arca, NYSE American, and BATS. By integrating stock trading into its existing ecosystem, Gate allows eligible customers to buy, hold, and sell stocks through the same account used for cryptocurrency trading.

Importantly, the service operates separately from CFD products. Investors gain direct stock exposure without funding rates, overnight fees, or swap charges commonly associated with leveraged derivatives.

Android users can access the feature after updating the Gate app, while iOS users require version 8.21.5 or later. After completing KYC verification and meeting jurisdictional requirements, customers can transfer USDT and begin trading through the platform’s TradFi section.

Gate says the launch is part of its broader strategy to create a unified asset allocation ecosystem spanning digital assets, equities, and global financial products.,

MEXC Introduces RealStocks Through Regulated Brokerage Partners

MEXC‘s newly announced2 RealStocks product takes a similar approach by providing access to real U.S.-listed equities through partnerships with licensed securities brokers. The exchange emphasizes that investors are purchasing actual shares rather than synthetic representations. As a result, eligible shareholders may receive dividends and other ownership benefits associated with the underlying securities.

According to MEXC, RealStocks offers several key advantages:

  • Direct ownership of real U.S. equities
  • Dividend eligibility where applicable
  • Simplified onboarding and KYC procedures
  • USDT funding support
  • Zero-commission promotional trading
  • Extended-hours market access
  • Real-time market data incentives

The platform allows customers to transfer funds directly between Spot accounts and RealStocks accounts, making movement between crypto and equity markets relatively seamless.

MEXC also launched a stock voucher rewards program to encourage adoption. Participants can earn stock redemption vouchers or stock cash vouchers that can be used toward eligible U.S. stock purchases. Additional launch promotions include zero-fee trading campaigns, new-user rewards, and lucky draw events featuring stock prizes.

The exchange says its goal is to reduce barriers between crypto assets and traditional financial markets while helping investors diversify their portfolios across multiple asset classes.

Binance Enters the Market With 7,000+ U.S. Stocks and ETFs

Binance joined the trend on June 13 with the launch of direct U.S. stock and ETF trading on its global platform. The world’s largest crypto exchange now offers access to more than 7,000 U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs, enabling customers to invest in major companies and broad market funds from the same account used for cryptocurrency trading.

Among the headline features are:

  • Access to 7,000+ stocks and ETFs
  • Fractional share investing starting at $5
  • Stablecoin-funded purchases
  • 24/5 trading availability
  • Direct ownership through regulated clearing brokers
  • Low-cost trading structure

Binance is attempting to create a unified investment experience where customers can manage cryptocurrencies and traditional equities side by side.

The company also announced plans to launch bStocks in the coming weeks. Tokenized Stocks vs Real Stock Ownership

The distinction between real stocks and tokenized stocks is becoming increasingly important as exchanges expand their TradFi offerings. Tokenized stocks generally represent blockchain-based versions of equities or synthetic instruments designed to track share prices. While they can offer advantages such as extended trading hours and on-chain functionality, they may not always provide direct ownership rights or dividend payouts.

Real stock trading products, by contrast, provide exposure to actual underlying shares held through regulated brokerages. This typically enables benefits such as:

  • Direct equity ownership
  • Dividend eligibility
  • Participation in stock splits
  • Greater transparency
  • Traditional shareholder rights where applicable

For long-term investors, these features make the experience much closer to investing through a conventional brokerage account.

Crypto Exchanges Are Becoming Full-Service Investment Platforms

The simultaneous launches from Gate, MEXC, and Binance illustrate a larger trend reshaping the digital asset industry. Crypto exchanges are no longer focused solely on Bitcoin, Ethereum, and digital asset trading. Instead, many are transforming into comprehensive investment platforms capable of connecting users with multiple global markets.

The trend is due to a growing demand from investors who want a single account for managing diverse portfolios without constantly moving capital between crypto exchanges and traditional brokerages.

Stablecoins have emerged as a key bridge in this transition. By allowing investors to move directly from USDT or USDC into stocks and ETFs, exchanges are creating a smoother path between digital assets and traditional securities.

The Future of Crypto-TradFi Convergence

The latest stock trading launches suggest that the next stage of competition among major crypto exchanges may extend far beyond cryptocurrencies themselves. As exchanges continue adding equities, ETFs, tokenized securities, and other financial products, the industry appears to be moving toward a model where a single platform can serve as both a crypto exchange and a global investment gateway.

For investors, that could mean easier diversification, broader market access, and fewer barriers between digital assets and traditional finance.

With Gate offering access to more than 10,000 securities, Binance bringing over 7,000 stocks and ETFs to its platform, and MEXC introducing regulated RealStocks ownership, the race to become the industry’s leading multi-asset investment platform is already underway.

For now, one thing is clear: crypto exchanges are no longer just competing to list the next token. They are competing to become the next generation of global brokerages.
