BitMart has been providing reliable crypto trading services since 2018, and features a varied altcoin selection, competitive trading fees and a great trading interface. The platform is available in most countries including United States, and supports local currency deposits through several different 3rd party payment providers.

Integrated fiat gateways let you deposit fiat through standard ACH or SEPA bank transfers or credit cards, but also Google Pay, Apple Pay, and more. Despite no free or low-fee fiat deposits, the first purchase experience on BitMart is very smooth, making it a decent alternative CEX to buy crypto.

With over 1,000 coins listed and lucrative staking and savings returns, BitMart is a good home for frequent traders and long-term investors with different risk appetites. New users can grab up to a $3,000 welcome bonus.

BitMart Review – Introduction

BitMart is a reliable medium-sized crypto exchange with all the essential features. It’s not always the best choice for first-time buyers, but it’s easy of use and accessibility make it a worthy alternative to some of the bigger exchanges in the market.

Our BitMart review will focus on providing more details about fiat deposits and withdrawals along with associated fees. In addition, we’ll provide an overview of BitMart’s trading options, other features, and safety concerns.

BitMart Overview – Who is This Exchange For?

First time buyers: BitMart is not a particularly good choice for first-time investors due to lack of direct fiat deposit methods. Direct-to-exchange payments are currently only available through credit and debit cards. Users wanting to use bank transfers or other deposit methods must use integrated 3rd party payment providers (gateways). As a result, fiat deposit fees can be high. Additionally, no other beginner-friendly features such as recurring purchases or quick-conversion exist.

Casual traders: For simple investing and trading, BitMart is a very good choice. Spot trading fees are cheaper than industry average (more info further below!), and features like Margin trading, Copy trading and Demo trading can get beginners started with trading. Over 1250 altcoins is enough diversification for anyone’s portfolio.

Professional traders: For expert day traders, Futures trading fees are average, but easily and substantially reduced by using native token. The user interface and customization options are very good. Some users may also appreciate BitMart’s optional KYC policy, making it accessibly in locations where derivatives trading may normally be restricted.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Up to $3,000 welcome bonus.
  • Fully available in U.S. except New York.
  • Very good APY’s for flexible savings.
  • Dozens of other lesser known altcoins available for savings that are hard to find on other exchanges.
  • 25% fee discount when using native token.
  • 5 different fiat deposit gateways, accepting bank transfers, credit/debit cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and more.
  • High amount of altcoins listed, more than most exchanges.

Cons

  • Direct deposits only through bank cards with high fees.
  • Other fiat deposit and withdraw methods only through 3rd party gateways.
  • High Spot trading fees on unpopular altcoins.

FIAT DEPOSITS – How to Deposit Local Currency to BitMart?

There are three ways to buy your first cryptocurrency on BitMart:

  1. Direct method only includes by credit and debit card
  2. Third party gateways (integrated 3rd party services with many payment methods)
  3. P2P market

1. Direct Deposit Methods

At the moment, only credit and debit cards can be used as direct payment methods (direct meaning you’re sending money directly to BitMart). Both Visa and Mastercard are accepted, but fees are high at 6%.

If you need the simplicity of card deposits along with instant funds, you can find exchanges with cheaper card deposits, typically around 3%. Go to our Fee Comparison page, swap to the “Fiat Deposit Fees” tab, and select your payment method to see a comparison of all exchanges. Alternatively, the Fees page can also help you find other payment methods, some of which have no fees.

2. Third Party Gateways

3rd party gateways (such as Simplex, MoonPay, Banxa, Alchemy Pay, and Legend Trading) are integrated onto BitMart to let users buy crypto with dozens of different payment methods. The payment methods include cards, bank transfers, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Skrill, Neteller, and PayPal.

Through 3rd party gateways you can buy crypto with nearly any local currency, and with tons of additional local payment methods (local country banks, digital wallets or other payment services). Fees are generally between 4% and 6%, depending on fiat currency, payment method and country.

Upon successful payment through any chosen gateway, the funds will be deposited directly into your BitMart account. All the integrated services are reputable and safe, so you don’t need to worry about your funds. Their biggest downside are of course the fees (outlined above in BitMart Fees section).

3. P2P Market

BitMart does have a peer-to-peer market, but with barely any activity. At the time of our review only one seller was available. If you prefer trading through P2P, you should look for other exchanges with P2P trading.

How to Buy Crypto on BitMart?

Buying crypto with fiat on BitMart is easy:

  1. Select “Buy & Sell” in main menu
  2. Select payment channel (P2P, Credit/Debit card, or Third-party payment)
  3. Choose how much you want to spend
  4. Select currency (choosing local currency may avoid potential currency exchange fees)
  5. Select payment method (only cards currently available as direct method)

The entire process is easy and fairly self-explanatory. Using 3rd party gateways is just as simple.

WITHDRAWALS – How to Withdraw From BitMart?

There’s two ways to get money off of BitMart: you can withdraw local currency (fiat) through gateways, or withdraw cryptocurrency assets to other exchanges or wallets.

1. Fiat Withdrawals

Selling crypto and withdrawing USD, EUR or other local currencies to bank accounts or digital wallets is only available through 3rd party gateways. Hence, most withdrawal methods have high withdrawal fees.

Ideally, you should use bank transfers through Banxa or Legend Trading for lowest fees (free or less than 2%). For an exact breakdown, scroll all the way back to BitMart Fees section above.

To sell crypto for fiat, go to “Buy & Sell” in menu, choose “Third-party payments” option, and swap to the “Sell” tab. You will immediately see how much you’re getting.

2. Crypto Withdrawals

All cryptocurrency deposits to BitMart are free, but withdrawals will cost. Good news: BitMart isn’t charging any expensive fees on popular assets.

  • Bitcoin: 0.0003 BTC on mainnet, 0.000001 BTC through Lightning network
  • Ethereum: 0.002 ETH on mainnet, 0.00001 ETH on Optimism, 0.0004 ETH on Arbitrum
  • Solana: 0.007 SOL
  • XRP: 0.2 XRP
  • Litecoin: 0.008 LTC
  • Cardano: 0.8 ADA
  • USDT: 3 USDT on Ethereum mainnet, 1-2 USDT on other networks, no fee on BSC
  • USDC: 3.1 USDC on Ethereum mainnet, 1 USDC on other networks, free on BSC

We recommend using the most popular coins to withdraw such as the ones we listed above. Some tokens like Dogecoin have high withdrawal fees (17 DOGE).

Some fees can depend on current blockchain congestion. An always up-to-date withdrawal fees list can be found on BitMart’s Deposit & Withdrawal Fees page on their website.

TRADING – How to Trade Crypto on BitMart?

BitMart lets users trade regular Spot, but also Margin and Futures markets. Additionally, Copy Trading is available for newbies, along with Demo trading where beginners can practice without any risks. All of this is also available in BitMart’s mobile app for trading on the move.

1. Spot Trading

Spot trading is suitable for simple buying of cryptocurrency assets and long-term investment. BitMart has more than 1250 altcoins to invest in on the Spot market, a number that will satisfy even the most demanding traders who enjoy diverse portfolios.

Spot Trading User Interface:

Spot trading UI is excellent! BitMart lets you resize, move and remove any panels and allows for a high degree of customization. You can swap between two main layout formats, but everything can be customized to your liking. For less flashing and a larger TradingView chart, the Order Book and Market Trades panels can be hidden.

BitMart Spot Trading User Interface
BitMart’s spot trading user interface (also available in dark theme).

Trading UI is also available in dark color scheme with a single convenient click. Additionally, you can optionally enable trade fill notifications (also with sounds), or order confirmation windows.

Available order types include Limit and Market, Trigger, TP/SL, and Advanced Limit. On Spot, advanced order types such as Iceberg or TWAP are not available.

Spot Trading Fees:

Spot trading fees on BitMart are a little bit tricky. Most exchanges have the exact same fee regardless of asset, but BitMart does things differently and separates altcoins into four categories:

  • Class A (100+ high cap altcoins) – 0.1% maker and 0.1% taker
  • Class B (medium and low market cap altcoins such as INJ, ENS, JTO, MANTA, PI, RONIN) – 0.25% maker and taker
  • Class C (low-cap altcoins) – 0.4% maker and 0.4% taker
  • Class D (very low cap altcoins) – 0.6% maker and taker

By paying for fees in BMX (BitMart’s native crypto coin), you will receive a 25% fee reduction. Additional discounts are only available by holding large amounts of BMX (VIP levels).

Despite different fee tiers for different cryptos, all fees for each trading pair are displayed transparently on BitMart’s Trading Fees page.

Fee comparison with other exchanges tells us that BitMart is cheaper than industry average on Class A assets, average on Class B, and expensive on Class C and D. So to answer if BitMart is cheap for Spot trading depends on the type of cryptocurrency you intend to trade:

  • If you’re a risk-averse trader and prefer sticking to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other major assets like Solana, XRP or Cardano, the fees will be cheap.
  • If you prefer trading newly launched tokens, fringe altcoins or unpopular memecoins, fees can get very expensive.

2. Margin Trading

Margin Trading essentially works similar to Spot trading, and the same UI and usability/customization options apply. By trading on Margin, you can apply up to 5X leverage to your positions with borrowed funds, and repay at any time.

Margin has fewer assets compared to Spot – you will only be able to trade a couple of hundred of altcoins. Dozens of popular ones have up to 5X leverage, but low and medium market cap altcoins have either 2X or 3X maximum leverage.

Order types available on Margin include Limit, Market and Advanced Limit.

3. Futures Trading

On Futures market, BitMart has over 400 trading pairs available for trading with leverage. Nearly all trading pairs are available with USDT. Only Bitcoin and Ethereum are available with USDC-margin or Coin-margin. Also, both Cross and Isolated margin modes are available, along with One-Way and Hedge position modes.

200X leverage is available for high-cap assets like BTC and ETH. Smaller altcoins such as XRP, LTC, BNB or others have between 20X and 100X. Maximum leverage typically depends on coin’s market cap and trading volume.

And speaking of trading volumes, BitMart is typically top 15-20 in trading volume on both Spot and Derivatives trading. You won’t find issues with volume or liquidity here, and slippage is minimal even for higher sized positions.

BitMart Futures Trading UI
BitMart’s Futures trading UI.

User interface on Futures is nearly identical to Spot or Margin, with some minor differences such as liquidation sounds and notifications. Order types include Limit, Market, Trigger, Post-Only, and Trailing Stop. Of course, TP (take-profit) and SL (stop-loss) can be set up easily.

Futures trading fees start at 0.02% (minimum fee or maker orders), and go up to 0.06% (maximum fee or taker orders). Unlike Spot, same fees apply for all assets on Futures market. When compared with other CEXs, these fees are industry-average. By buying any amount of BMX (native token) and using it to pay for fees, you can reduce all fees by 25%.

4. Copy Trading

Copytrading is often used by beginners who wish to try making money with crypto, but don’t know where to begin. BitMart’s Copy Trading is only available on Futures (not Spot), but a solid number of active Lead Traders can provide sufficient options for copy adventures.

BitMart Lead Traders

You can browse Lead Traders (LTs) in multiple categories such as ROI (return on investment), total P&L (profit and loss), and others. Always remember that letting others manage your trades has risks. To increase your chances of making money, it’s crucial to do proper research and look at historical performances for each LT .

BitMart Lead Trader Performance
Detailed performance metrics for each LT will help you find potentially profitable ones.

For each LT, BitMart will give you a ton of useful data including drawdown, winning and losing trades, assets under management, trading frequency, trading pairs, daily PnL, and other metrics. You can even see all current and historical positions, providing sufficient performance data to properly assess each leader.

TOP FEATURES – What Else Does BitMart Have?

BitMart isn’t as feature-packed as some of the top exchanges in the industry. However, it still has a few features we want to specifically highlight.

1. Savings & Staking

BitMart has one of the best savings & staking programs for passive income out of all exchanges. It offers high yearly interest on USDT, even with flexible duration. You don’t need to lock your USDT or other assets to gain massive benefits, making this exchange one of the top ones for holding your unused stablecoins.

BitMart Flexible Savings
Top coins on BitMart’s flexible Savings.

Savings on BitMart also has a few dozen low-cap altcoins which you won’t find on other exchanges. If you hold any of these altcoins long-term, BitMart can be a trusted and secure centralized exchange for your coins.

In addition to the above, staking on BitMart has dozens of popular altcoins such as SHIB, AXS, MANTA, XAI, METIS, TAO, SATS, ACE, ICP, AAVE, FET, MUBI, PYTH, KAVA, RATS, STX, TIA, INJ, RUNE, SEI, UNIBOT, PENDLE, ORDI, MATIC, SUI, PEPE, ARB, APT, BLUR, and many more.

2. No Mandatory Identity Verification

BitMart allows users to buy and sell crypto, and withdraw up to 0.06 BTC daily without submitting any documents. You will need to punch in your basic info such as name and address, but uploading documents for verification isn’t mandatory.

BitMart KYC Restrictions
Level 1 Starter KYC only requires basic personal information and has very few restrictions.

To access the full range of BitMart’s features including fiat deposit and withdrawal, you will need to pass full KYC verification (Level 2), which will require submitting photos of your ID document.

Keep in mind BitMart is registered in and allows customers from United States, except those from New York. No VPN required. Full (and short) list of restricted countries is available in BitMart Restricted Countries section above.

3. Demo Trading

Beginners who wish to learn how to trade crypto but don’t want to risk real money can use BitMart’s Demo Trading for practice. In Demo Trading, you get the full trading experience with all the features and options as regular Futures trading.

You can claim $100,000 mock funds with no costs or restrictions, and use the money to paper trade and practice with no risk to your real portfolio. If you lose the fake USDX, you can just claim it again to continue practicing!

Additional features include a Launchpad platform, referral and affiliate program, rewards hub, futures grid trading bots, NFT marketplace, and more.

SAFETY – Is BitMart a Safe Exchange?

BitMart is not considered the industry’s safest exchange, but we also found no red flags during our ongoing safety and security assessment of the platform. BitMart is a legitimate cryptocurrency exchange and considered safe to use.

The exchange launched in 2018, has over 500 employees1, and is currently headquartered in Cayman Islands. The company frequently participates in various blockchain conferences and events. Their current CEO Nenter Chow (appointed in April 2025) and other company executives are known and listed in various sources.

Here are some of the relevant safety and security factors:

  • Number of users: BitMart’s website claims they currently have over 9 million users. While we can’t independently verify this number, trading volumes on websites such as CoinMarketCap add credibility to the user count.
  • 3rd party ratings:
    • CoinGecko Trust Score: CoinGecko (reputable coin/CEX tracking website) rated BitMart with a 8/10 score2, and ranked it as world’s #25 centralized exchange.
    • Security certification: Cer.live (blockchain security certification website) gave BitMart 100/100 scores in server security, user security, and penetration tests. Overall rating is A (80/100), and ranked as #34 exchange3.
    • Trading volume: On CoinMarketCap4 and CoinGecko5, BitMart is typically between top 15-20 on both Spot and Derivatives trading volume.
    • App stores: BitMart’s mobile app received a 2.8 rating from Apple users6, and also 2.8 on Google Play7.
  • Bug bounties: Active bug bounty program is available on Hackenproof8, ensuring platform security is frequently tested, and any potential bugs or exploits get reported and fixed.
  • Fund storage: BitMart uses hybrid hot/cold wallet systems with multi-signature tech to secure assets (no other details known). Merkle Tree Proof of Reserves reports have been promised9 for transparency, but are not live yet.
  • Previous hacks: Nearly $200 million was stolen10 after an exchange hack back in 2021. Company reimbursed users for all losses. No other platform breaches have been recorded before or since.
  • Regulatory licenses and approvals: TCSP license11 in Hong Kong, unspecified licenses12 in Lithuania, MSB license13 (#31000264965518) across the United States.
  • Customer support: Comprehensive Help Center, ticket system and 24/7 live chat are available should customers need any assistance.

User Account Security

In general, we would like to see a few more account safety features. For example, withdrawal whitelists, support for Passkeys, account lock/freeze options. trading passwords, etc. Nevertheless, existing security methods are sufficient to prevent most cases of unauthorized account usage:

  • 2FA (2-factor authentication) available via SMS, email and Google Authenticator.
  • Anti-phishing codes can be set up to verify official communication.
  • Device management and login history is available to review recent account activity.
  • Login notifications are sent for every account access.

One security-related “feature” that really bothers us is that BitMart simply refuses to save the account username and password in your browser. As a result, users without password management apps or social media accounts are practically forced to use simplistic and memorable passwords, which is generally an even bigger security risk.

So, Is BitMart Safe For Crypto Trading?

BitMart has been live since 2018 and has been providing reliable crypto trading services since then. One major platform breach back in 2021 resulted in a large loss of funds, but no customers lost funds as exchange reimbursed losses from their own pockets.

Security concerns:

  1. No proof of reserves reports.
  2. No details about security and safety protocols or funds storage in hot vs cold wallets
  3. User account security could use additional features.
  4. Few regulatory approvals and licenses.

Everything else checks out. We consider BitMart to be safe for crypto trading and asset holding. During our repeated checks and years of actual use we found no issues with the exchange. Browsing through social media and external reviews reveals common complaints, but we’ve found no credible evidence that BitMart is scam or shady in any way. This is a legitimate crypto exchange with a long history and mostly positive feedback and reviews.

CONCLUSION – Is BitMart Good or Bad?

Due to lack of cheap or free fiat deposit methods, we don’t recommend BitMart for first-time crypto investors. However, casual or seasoned traders will find BitMart a solid medium-sized alternative exchange for reliable crypto trading on Spot, Margin or Futures markets.

BitMart is available in United States, making it one of the best trading platforms for US-based investors (staking and derivatives is restricted to KYCd users, however). There are a few minor security concerns and BitMart isn’t as regulated or safe as some of the top trading platforms, but the exchange has been operating for over 7 years and has a fairly large user base.

BitMart doesn’t have a great deal of financial features like the big-league exchanges. The platform is best for traders looking for an alternative exchange with essential trading options. For trading, BitMart is a great choice.
